Mission

At Harrington Nursery School we place children and families at the centre of everything we do, ensuring that everyone received the best provision to achieve their full potential. Our highly valued practitioners provide a caring and nurturing learning environment which is consistent yet adaptive based on the needs of the children in our care.

Strategy

  • Be, Belong, Become We give the children time to ‘be’, to settle into school life, supporting them with the transition and meeting them where they are. When children feel safe and happy, we see them start to ‘become’ and we can learn more about them developing positive relationships to enable effective teaching and learning. By the time children are ready to leave us, they have become creative, critical thinkers who are excited to learn more.
  •  To have a well-structured curriculum and robust assessment procedures, ensuring that every child makes significant progress from their starting points and has access to a range of real world experiences.
  •  To have successful links with local schools and professionals to ensure a seamless transition from our curriculum to future learning.
  •  To have a clear plan of practitioner professional development to enable us to fully meet the needs of the children and families in our care.

Values

  • We stand against all forms of discrimination on the grounds of ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or ability.
  • We have a robust cycle of school development, closely monitoring our successes alongside our areas for improvement.
  • We are consistently monitoring the quality of our provision, the children’s progress and wellbeing; making adaptations and adjustment when needed.
  • Our practitioners are committed to continual development of their knowledge and practice to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children and families.
  • We strive to be a ‘hub of excellence’ for early years education – valuing every opportunity to work in partnership with our families, schools and other professionals to ensure that every child succeeds.

Culture

Harrington Nursery School is a place where children thrive. They feel safe and our practitioners feel valued and supported. The provision is adapted to meet the needs of the children and staff, who work hard to develop fantastic relationships with families ensuring the best possible outcomes for everyone.
